Tiramisu Dip

Ben, my food blogging friend from The Online Grill, has joined me again to share indulgent and extra creative recipes from his kitchen.

He proposed the idea of a “Tiramisu Dip.”

I jumped at the chance to share this recipe and his gorgeous photos with you.

I’m an easy recipe addict. Some people might think it’s not a great attitude to have, but I’d rather come up with creative ways to make quick and simple versions of more elaborate dishes. All so I can create fun recipes without keeping me away from actually enjoying them.

I wanted to put together an easy party dip that would satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth without preventing me from joining the party for too long!

This easy recipe also only takes 10 minutes to prepare, and packs in all the great flavors of your favorite tiramisu recipe.

It balances the tastes of coffee and chocolate perfectly, all without being too bitter or too sweet, and its use of cream and mascarpone gives it a lovely fluffy, and full texture. All of this is packed in to make for a great dip.

I’ve put ladyfingers in the recipe to dip in the tiramisu, but in truth, you can use (almost) anything. From vanilla wafers to ice cream flakes, there’s a lot of room for experimentation! If you’re feeling really adventurous (or decadent) then it would even go well on pancakes, waffles, or… I had better stop there.

Tiramisu Dip

1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 Tbs. espresso powder

8 oz mascarpone cheese
4 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2 tsp. cocoa powder
choice of ladyfingers, vanilla wafers, or fruit for dipping

In a medium bowl, start by combining the whipping cream and espresso powder. Stir until well combined.

In a new bowl, use an electric mixer to beat cream cheese until smooth and creamy.

Add mascarpone cheese to the cream cheese.

Beat until smooth.

With your electric mixer on a low speed, add powdered sugar and vanilla extract.

Changing your electric mixer to high speed, add whipping cream and espresso mixture.

Beat until soft peaks start to form but be sure not to overbeat.

Scoop into a serving bowl.

Top with liberal sprinkles of cocoa powder through a fine mesh strainer.

Serve with your choice of ladyfingers, vanilla wafers, or fruit for dipping.
