Broccoli Bacon Blue Cheese Cherry Walnut Quiche

 

Like a blue cheese, wedge salad, but with the addition of broccoli and walnut crunch, as well as the sweet tang of dried cherries, this wholesome quiche is truly amazing. A walnut crust and a rosemary veggie infusion alongside the bacon bake it something quite special.





Broccoli Bacon Blue Cheese Cherry Walnut Quiche

Walnut Pie Crust:
8 Tbs. butter, ice cold, cubed into 1″ pieces
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 large egg
1 Tbs. apple cider vinegar
¾ cup walnut halves

2-3 Tbs. ice water

 

Combine all ingredients, except for walnuts and water, in the bowl of a large food processor. 

 

Pulse until crumbly.
Drizzle in walnuts and water, 1 Tbs. at a time, until the dough is beady and the nuts are still in pieces.

 

Transfer to a large sheet of parchment paper and press into a disc.


Top with another sheet of parchment and roll out into an 11″ round-ish shape.

 

Transfer to a deep-dish pie plate.

 

Flute the edges of the crust to prepare for filling.

 

Broccoli Bacon Blue Cheese Cherry Walnut Filling:
2 tsp. butter or olive oil

3 green onions, chopped (tops removed)
1 cup broccoli, finely chopped
1 cup broccoli slaw
sea salt and pepper
1 cup crispy bacon, finely chopped
1 cup high-quality blue cheese salad dressing
5 large eggs, beaten
1 Tbs. fresh rosemary, finely chopped
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup dried cherries

 

1 cup sharp white cheddar cheese, roughly grated
½ cup blue cheese crumbles

 

Preheat oven to 400°F.

 

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter or oil.

 

Sauté the onion, broccoli, and broccoli slaw with salt and pepper until bright and colorful. 

 

Reduce heat to a slow simmer. 

 

Add the bacon and stir until well combined.

 

Add the blue cheese dressing and mix well.

 

Remove from heat.

 

Stir in the beaten eggs, rosemary, walnuts, and cherries.

 

Line the pie crust with the shredded white cheddar.

 

Pour the broccoli, bacon, blue cheese, and egg filling over the shredded cheese.

 

Top with crumbled blue cheese and additional freshly ground pepper.

 

Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.

 

Remove from oven and cool for several hours or overnight before slicing and serving your best crunchy Broccoli Bacon Blue Cheese Cherry Walnut Quiche.
